Carrie Underwood

I’v always liked country music, and Carrie Underwood is one of my favourite country singers.

I came accross one of her videos on facebook the other day, and was blown away. She received standing ovation from the crowd which were mainly celebrities when she belched out How Great Thou Art on stage with Vince Gill.

This video is a must watch, even if you are not christian or holy person, just listen to her singing, it is just pitched perfect, and very touching.

Another pleasant surprise!

I checked my clickbank yesterday after work, and guess what? I made my 3rd sales !!

I am pretty pleased with my achievement so far, I have made 3 sales in 2 weeks, not bad huh for a starter?

I think affiliate marketing is all about taking action. People who have interest in earning money online musn’t read, read, and read. You actually have to start putting what you read into action, despite what the outcome might be. You’ll never know if you don’t try right?

My blogs are almost a year old!

Ah, it is almost February again. I remember I started blogging early February last year, so my blogs are almost 1 year old!! Time passes so fast eh? It is time to research on dedicated hosting services again to see if there are better hosting companies out there than the one I am already using. Which host do you use??

I am quite glad with my achievement this year with blogging, thanks to a very kind lady who helped me without expecting anything in return. I am so lucky to have known her (MB). So it has been a year already, time to renew my domains and hosting, and dedicated Ip etc. I am pleased that I have already earned back the money invested into blogging.

Happy blogging to every bloggers out there, hope 2011 will be a good year for everyone!!!

Overall my 1st day back at work went by smoothly, thank god I havn’t forgotten too much >.< Today was also the day I did my 1st MUR(medicines use review) with a patient! Woohoo.. an asthmatic patient.

So today I was working near the harbour, where most tour busses stop. Because of its location, there were so many queries, especially from the visitors. The good thing is we were so quiet with prescriptions, we did only 52 items. It is the least I have ever seen so far. But that was really good, it gave me time to sort out all the queries Over the counter.

I think  I covered almost all conditions on the counter today! You name it. Lol.. Another very happy day for me.. Let me tell you what I’ve seen today, Im so proud! Iv never seen so many conditions in a day!

  • Ring worm – I sold canestan 1% cream
  • Atheletes foot – I didnt think it was atheletes foot, so I didnt sell the anti-fungal cream, just sold E-45 cream instead
  • Injured palm/wrist – I measured her wrist, sold Tubigrip , and ask her to take paracetamol
  • Coldsore/sore mouth – Only a tiny blister near the mouth, didn’t think it was coldsore, I sold blistex instead of zovirax, because it has been there for 3 days, zovirax wont help much.
  • Migraine – Sold co-codamol effervescent tablets (I regretted this, because apparently codeine can slow down the movement in the gut, so may slow down absorption of the drug, I would sell soluble aspirin or soluble paracetamol the next time, I sold it to them because I knew Yellow Migraleve contains paracetamol + codeine, but now I think its not a good choice)
  • Corns – Put on corn plasters for several customers
  • Travel sickness tablets for a lady on baclofen and dihydrocodeine – sold boots hyoscine hydrobromide, mentioned about constipation to her
  • Contact dermatitis due to new washing powder – sold hydrocortisone 1% cream, advised him to apply thinly once or twice daily, no longer than 7 days.
  • Head lice for asthmatic and high blood pressure – sold malathion – Derbac-M
  • Had several queries on wasp stings, bites etc..
  • Had a lady coming in with a deep cut on her finger, that hasnt stop bleeding since 5 hours ago!!! Blood was still gushing out, and dripping everywhere, had to sit her down, got the 1st aid kit, bandage it up for her, and referred her to the nearest surgery. The cut was so DEEP! And I am scared of blood! Omg. And I remembered not to touch the blood!

My proud moment today – one of the corn ladies came back and told the counter staff, ‘I am ever so grateful, never experienced such great customer service from a pharmacy in the past’ Please say thank you to the pharmacist.. Wooohooo. That really made my day!

Adaptation to changes

change

So, tomorrow will be an entirely new chapter of my life, that is the start of my journey of taking on the role of a pharmacist. Am I ready? The title of my post above says it all. I am not. After 4 years of University, 1 year of training, you’d think oh 5 years of studying and you are not ready, nonsense! But it is true, no one will ever be ready at the beginning, and now Im in a transition state of becoming a pharmacist from a pre-reg student. Anything that involves ‘changes’ or ‘new’ are always difficult. People are always more comfortable staying where they were, thus shun changes and new things. That is human nature. Don’t you agree?

But how do we cope and adapt to these changes? That is what I am experiencing at the moment and learning to deal with it. I am totally in a denial state. Sitting on my bed with my laptop on my lap… trying to look for inspiring music to lift up my spirits.. Any suggestions?? I was watching glee yesterday, so Im listening to ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ at the moment.. But I don’t think it is helping.. I have been watching Glee, then the movie ‘Losers’, then took naps, so that I can get my mind off this whole pharmacist thing.

Most of the pre-regs’ including myself are still waiting for our registration number, without it we can’t practice, so we have to constantly go on the RPSGB website to check if our names been added on to the list.. and me being in denial, Im hoping that there will be a delay, so I will have another 1 or 2 days to get myself ready.

I am a suc*** at dealing with changes. Before this, I was caught up in a personal problem, I was so down and wanted to stay at where I was, but situation pushed me to move on, and in the process, talking to people, writing down the problems, and Spending money helped. All of these helped to make me feel better and move on, but I did regret one thing. I spent too much, especially on unnecessary things. Well, I had no way out, and shopping and spending money kept me going, and that is what I had to do. So I wish there were other ways that doesn’t involve money. Lol. Any suggestions??

Feel free to share how you deal with changes, or any tips you can give :)

DSC02341Yay.. Theatre – Monty Python Spamalot will be coming to Torquay in November.. Im so happy.. If you don’t know by now, Im a big fan of Sara Ramirez aka Callie Torres from Grey’s Anatomy. She is the Tony Award winner for Spamalot several years ago, before she went into Grey’s Anatomy as a regular. Eventhough she is not one of the casts now, I would still love to watch this great musical!

Yea I know November is still months away.. but on the coming Monday, I will be going for the free screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail film :) Havn’t watched it before, hope its a good one. After all, it is free :) The good thing about going for this free screening is, you can get £5 off your purchase of Spamalot in November. Great isn’t it? I can’t wait.

For those who have no idea about this at all, I have attached a few youtube videos here, of my favourite cast from grey’s and spamalot ;) check it out. When I am down, I listen to this. It really lives up your spirit. Very inspiring wordings.

My favourite parts of the song

Life is really up to you
You must choose what to pursue ohh yeeeah
Set your mind on what to find
And there’s nothin’ you can’t doooo

So keep right to the end
You’ll find your goal my friend
You won’t fail
Find your grail
Find your grai-a-a-a-ail
Find your grail

When your life
Seems to drift
When we all need a lift
Tell yourself you won’t fail
Find your grail
Find your grail

A Diary for a new start

Posted by mei | Posted in Life as a pharmacist, Motivational, On a serious note | Posted on 18-07-2010

I spoilt myself today. I Bought a filofax diary and some accessories to go with it.  The diary cost £25. Well it is quite expensive, because you can easily get a normal diary for £5 or less. But I thought, since the diary will be an important part of me when I start working, might as well buy a good one that looks decent and last long.

In fact, it might save me some money in the long run, since you can replace old sheets with new ones every year, without having to buy a new diary again. This diary is multipurpose, besides jotting down where I will be working every day, (If you don’t know by now, I will be working in different stores everyday!) I can also plan when to do me blogs!! It is the only way to get meself organized again.

I remember in year 4, I had a diary and was carrying it around, because I was working part time, and juggling lectures at the same time. But when I was in my pre-reg year(intern), I stopped using it, and my life was in a mess, It started off well, was organized, juggling work, blogs, studies, cooking, cleaning etc.. my life slowly just got out of control, because I was so caught up with so many things to do.. can you believe I have not cooked properly in the last 2 months? So that means I have been wasting lots of money! Yes, terrible. So, with this diary, I hope I will be organized and will be working systematically, living a healthy and happy life again. I can do it!

And I’m that little bit of hope
When my back’s against the rooopes
I can feel it(Um)

When my back’s against the ropes(When my back’s against the ropes)
I can feel it(I can feel)
I’m the world’s greatest

(Chorus)
I saw the light(I’m that star up in the sky)
At the end of a tunnel(I’m that mountain peak up high)

At the end of the rainbow(I’m the world’s greatest)
And faith was right there(And I’m that little bit of hope)

At the end of a tunnel(Can you feel it)
Believe in the pot of gold(It’s the greatest)
At the end of the rainbow(Can you feel it)
And faith was right there(It’s the greatest)
To pull me through, yeah(Can you feel it)
Used to be locked doors(It’s the greatest)
Now I can just walk on through(Can you feel it)

I’m that star up in the sky
I’m that mountain peak up hiiigh
Hey, I made it
I’m the world’s greatest
And I’m that little bit of hope
When my back’s against the rooopes
I can feel it
I’m the world’s greatest

Jason Mraz feat James Morrison – Details in the fabric

If it’s a broken part, replace it
If it’s a broken arm then brace it
If it’s a broken heart then face it

And hold your own
Know your name
And go your own way

In the start of the song, someone over the phone tells a story about how they’ve lost everything in an apartment fire, and is completely lost. Jason, in the song is trying to help them get through this difficult time of their life, and at the end of the song, another phone call tells that they have managed to pull through and feels grateful for Jason’s help. The meaning of the song is along the same lines of detachment – from any sort of relationship problems, losing someone, or just about any life crisis one is dealing with.

I love the lyrics of the song, I think it is beautifully written, the meaning of the song definitely applies to most us at some point of our lives. I think this is a great song for those who are trying to move on from a broken relationship, This is my favourite part – ‘hold your own, know your name’ – is a reminder for one to appreciate and love yourself, put yourself first before others, don’t try to be someone you’re not for someone else. So basically, don’t let a relationship become everything/main thing in your life, because when it is over, you are left with nothing, but yourself.
