Haley Reinhart rocked american idol today! She was never my favourite in this season, but her performance today really got to me. I think she has become very confident over the weeks, and her performance today impressed me, in fact it blew me away! Best performance of the night. I was going to vote for her immediately, but my stupid phone battery died, and I was stuck at a friend’s place, without my charger , I think I could do with extra telephone batteries!
Did you see Sara Ramirez on the front row in the crowd? She was cheering for Haley too! Haley’s rendition of House of the rising sun was amazing, it was a wise choice for her to do an acapella version without the band, which made her voice stand out even more! I wouldn’t have youtube this song, if it wasn’t for her performance tonight. So she made this song famous once again!
When I came back from Malaysia 3 weeks ago, the weather was just nice. Sunny, but not too hot. After about 10 days, the weather has changed again. Why am I not surprised. Welcome to the British weather. So I guess, that is it for this year’s summer eh? Well I don’t want to Jinx it, but let’s face it, having 10 days of sunlight, and a temperature of 25 degrees is rare. hehe.
So for those of you travelling to England during summer, please be warned that the temperature has gone down now, and it has been very chilly. Bring more clothes over! Hows the weather at your end?
I can’t believe I havn’t actually been to Malacca before when I was younger! It was my 1st trip there when I went back for holidays few weeks back *Shameful*
So a friend of ours drove there, we stopped by at seremban for breakfast then carried on the journey, it took us about 2 hours to get there. Malacca is really hot, much hotter compared to KL, so be sure to apply sunblock!!
Malacca is also famous for their food especially their chicken rice balls, baba and nyonya assam laksa and the satay celup – Capitol in particular. Others worth mentioning are the freshly made pineapple tarts and durian puffs (craving now as I write T.T) ~ Yum!
When you go to Malacca, you can’t miss their night market at Jonker Street, it is really lively and they do sell a variety of food, fashion, crafty stuff, and also odd things like utility knives too! There are several pubs and night cafes along the streets as well. But be sure to visit only during the weekends, friday saturday and sunday from 6pm till late midnight, other nights are just dead.
If you can’t stand the heat, there is a mall in the centre of Malacca called the Pahlawan mall, you can just stay indoor with air cond, and pamper yourself with a cup of tea and a slice of Mille Crepe Cake at Nadeja cafe, the cakes are actually made from many layers of crepe with huge variety of flavours that you can choose from. Do check out my individual post on my food blog.
Overall I’d stay 2 full days would be sufficient to have a taste of Malacca.
So when I was back in Malaysia for 3 weeks, my family and I visited Malaysia’s food heaven – Penang Island. We managed to book rooms at Park Royal hotel, for 50% (a promotion they were doing at that moment) so instead of Rm900+, we only paid Rm 400+ a room, a standard sized room, with a king sized bed that could fit 3 people, the bed was really comfortable and firm, good enough for the bad backs, talking about that, a good bed is as important as taking calcium supplements.
The bathroom was pretty clean too, air cond was very powerful, ok for the young ones, but too cold for the elderly despite adjusting it to 28 degrees! Oh and we didn’t get a seaview room, because it isn’t worth paying another few hundred just for that, after all we spent most of our time by the pool, and on the beach! The weather was good when we visited, slightly windy, so it was just right for parasailing, and some water sports!
This hotel is located right smack in batu ferringhi tourist area, where a huge variety of restaurants and hawker food can be found, both western that caters to tourist from all over the world, or hawker food that is more suitable for the locals like ourselves. There is a night market just right in front of the hotel, all along ferringhi.
I have been very home sick since I came back to Uk. It just made me feel like leaving everything here and go home. Sigh.
Well it is not all that bad, since there are tons of bank holidays, especially in the month of April and May! What more, they have just declared another bank holiday on 29th April due to the royal wedding. Great isn’t it?
Last Friday and Monday were bank hols, ok, I did have to work. But coming Friday is a bank holiday again, and I am off, plus I have got Sat and Sun off as well, hooray!
If you don’t know by now, let me tell you. Now 78 is finally released!! It was out in the market for purchasing on the 11th of April 2011. Many people have a collection of Now music albums because it is the only cool album with various most current artist with amazing tracks you can find.
Now 78 consists of 2 CDs as with most music albums, with 21 tracks on each CD. Guess what is their 1st track on the CD??? Yes you bet – Grenade by Bruno Mars!! That song has been on top of the billboard charts for awhile, and who doesn’t know Bruno Mars right? Besides him, there are other hit songs – Like a G6 by Far East Movement that you’d probably be farmiliar with if you visit the clubs frequently.
Other artists which are included in the album include Taoi Cruz, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Pink, Avril Lavigne etc etc. Not to forget, one of Britain’s favourite Idol Matt Cardle’s single When We Collide is also one of the bonuses you can get in the CD!
Recently I bought 2 music albums namely Bruno Mars’ and Taylor Swift’ latest albums for a friend’s birthday, but I was actually searching for something like Now 78, in fact, I did ask the sales person if they had an album with various current artists in them, but he said no. I guess it wasn’t released yet when I was looking for it.
So if you are looking for the ideal music album as a gift, you know what to look for now. It only costs £11.99, for a good 42 tracks.
It is strange how I have such huge appetite in england, but when I am home, I tend to eat less, and crave less. I think it has got something to do with the hot and humid weather in Malaysia, don’t you think? I guess also because I just got home, and adapting to the change of time, I tend to eat during the wrong time! I didn’t even have dinner last night, and not feeling hungry
I finally gave my sister her birthday gift. 2 weeks earlier before her birthday, just because I wanted her to use it before I leave haha! No more surprise. Well, I am glad she liked it! I love Swarovski charm bracelet too, hope to buy one for myself next time.
Yay, last day at work today, and will be heading to heathrow airport tomorrow!! Woohoo! This feeling is great, having to pack my bag, leave England, and go back to my home sweet home, to see my family and friends.
I can’t wait for my Malacca trip and Sabah trip in April! I also have to shop for some summer dresses and beach wear too which is going to be fun! I will have to bring my custom laptops along, because I am not looking forward to that long haul flight. I really hate flying and being stuck in that seat for 14 hours. Yikes. But at least I have downloaded shows to my laptop, I can watch my TVB in flight.
Hmm, well, it is almost the time of the year again, where people get letters to tell them of any promotion, pay rise or bonus for all the hard work you have put in for year 2010 april to 2011 april. So have you had yours yet??
Well, I will be having my personal and development contract review coming friday, and my line manager will be reviewing my performance over the last 6 months, to see if Ihave met all the goals we set in November 2010, to qualify for a bonus! If I do get one, then I can start looking into things like motorhome insurance, a new bed, a new 32 inch TV, and a driving license in the UK! Yes all these requires a lot of money eh!
I can’t wait to find out, but I have a bad feeling I havn’t done enough to deserve a reward this year. Especially with the 10 MUR target a week, I dont think I will be getting a bonus, even if I do qualify for one, it may be a tiny one. Anyhow, I still look forward to finding out. How about you???
