I’v always liked country music, and Carrie Underwood is one of my favourite country singers.

I came accross one of her videos on facebook the other day, and was blown away. She received standing ovation from the crowd which were mainly celebrities when she belched out How Great Thou Art on stage with Vince Gill.

This video is a must watch, even if you are not christian or holy person, just listen to her singing, it is just pitched perfect, and very touching.

Luke Bryan topped billboard’s top 20 chart this week! Well done! I knew he would be famous soon after seing him on Apprentice 2010, earlier in the year.  It isn’t a surprise, after all it was on Trump show he appeared in! Only surprised that Emily West who also appeared on apprentice together with Luke  is not on the chart, I thought she was as good or better. Check out his song ‘Rain is a good thing’, the title of the song is not very appealing i know. But try listening to it, im sure you will like it

Did you watch The Apprentice S9 Ep6? In Apprentice, each group were given a task to make over their artist who were already country singers but were not very well known yet. After watching Episode 6, I fell in love with Emily West’s voice!! It was amazing to see the audience got silent when she performed, she touched many souls out there, you can tell, even Cyndi Lauper teared at the end. Check out Emily’s and Luke’s Videos.

In the start of the song, someone over the phone tells a story about how they’ve lost everything in an apartment fire, and is completely lost. Jason, in the song is trying to help them get through this difficult time of their life, and at the end of the song, another phone call tells that they have managed to pull through and feels grateful for Jason’s help. The meaning of the song is along the same lines of detachment – from any sort of relationship problems, losing someone, or just about any life crisis one is dealing with.

I love the lyrics of the song, I think it is beautifully written, the meaning of the song definitely applies to most us at some point of our lives. I think this is a great song for those who are trying to move on from a broken relationship, This is my favourite part – ‘hold your own, know your name’ – is a reminder for one to appreciate and love yourself, put yourself first before others, don’t try to be someone you’re not for someone else. So basically, don’t let a relationship become everything/main thing in your life, because when it is over, you are left with nothing, but yourself.

Did any of you watched american idol episode 23, do you like the song at the end of the episode? It is a song by Will Young called Leave Right Now, It is quite an old song, the album was released in 2003, about 7 years ago now. I can’t believe Im falling in love with this song all over again. It was such a long time since I last heard Will Young’s music. He actually does sound like a woman in the beginning of the song, then slowly you will realise its a man. Lol..

He released a new album in November 2009, called ‘The Hits’. Leave Right Now is included in his album as well. Such a great hit from him. The few songs I liked from Will Young is Let it Go and Leave Right Now. Have a go, and see if you like him, I warn you first his music is quite emo, if you are in that moment, then you may like it, but if you are up for a happier and up beat song, then leave this ;)

A friend recommended one of Miley Cyrus songs to me called ‘the climb’. I found the song really comforting, and her voice is not bad. Another new found talent by me I thought I’d share with you the clip I found on You tube.

The climb was actually the soundtrack of the movie Hannah Montana 2009, Miley Cyrus was the main actress in the movie, and also the singer for the soundtrack. The song is written by Jessi Alexander and Jon Mabe and was released on March 5, 2009 as the lead single of the film’s soundtrack by Walt Disney Records. The lyrics of the song describes life as a difficult but rewarding journey. It is a country pop ballad, and was her first solo released to country radio.

Cyrus released her second album in July 2008, called ‘Breakout‘. She said the album was inspired by the things that was going on in her life in the past year. She co-wrote 8 out of 12 songs on the album. For Cyrus, songwriting is what she really wanted to do in her life. The album topped the U.S. Billboard 200 chart with a first week sales of about 371,000 copies.

Did you guys watch American Idol episode 21, result night? If you did, what did you think of the performance at the start of the show? I thought the Michael buble song ‘havn’t met you yet’ was such a cute song.. Loved it! Let me know what you think, ait?

Michael Buble has been active in the singing since 2001 till now. Through out this period, he has won numerous awards and is widely recognized by the world. The recent awards he won this year in 2010 include Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album – Michael Buble meets Madison Square Garden, British Award for International Male Solo Artist, and Meteor Award for the same title.

You would have heard the song ‘Home’ by Michael, which is probably the song that has made him so well known today. It was from the album called ‘it’s time’ released in 2005. The song was written by him along with Alan Chang and Amy Foster-Gillies. The song was a hit in Canada and US topping the US contemporary chart.

How did the song came along?  Michael had been away in Italy doing his tour when he wrote ‘Home’ for his fiancee, Debbie Timuss. He describes his loneliness from missing her in the lyrics. The song centralizes on the male narrator who is separated from his beloved while traveling, he expresses a desire to home and be with her.

I am also loving Jason Mraz music. Especially the song ‘Im Yours’, absolutely yum. Anyone listening to it at the moment? I wonder if AI Aaron Kelly can sing this song, I’d like to hear someone from AI this season to sing this would be nice to watch if any of them can pull off well with this song, I bet it would be hard to be compared to Jason Mraz  

Jason Mraz is an American singer and song writer, born in Virginia. His music genres include reggae, pop, rock, jazz, and hip hop. He is of Czech descent through his grandfather who moved to the states in 1915. He studied musical theatre before moving to San Diego, then owned an avocado farm in SD.

I’m yours - single from his 3rd studio album ‘we sing. we dance. we steal things’ peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Mraz his first top ten single. This album is his highest-peaking album so far. The song was a huge success, the sales went well over 3 million!  Jason Mraz also won two awards for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals at the 52nd Grammy Award 2010, with the songs Make It Mine and Lucky.

I came across a video clip of a guy and a girl singing duet of this song, surprisingly they were quite good. Check this out, i found them quite cute

When I was in st Austell during the weekend hanging out with my friends, one of them were playing the old boy band songs non-stop, which included Westlife, Backstreet boys, N sync etc. It reminded me of my childhood days, when I was a crazy fan of westlife!! I remember going to their concert, and paying the highest price to get the front seats, and standing up on the chair, screaming my lungs out at Kian Egan and Nicky Bryne, my 2 favourites, but they were the 2 least talented singers within the entire group. Anyway those were the days man, it makes me laugh when I think back. I still listen to their songs at times, but not as much now, but  I can still sing most of their songs without looking at the lyrics!! haha. Anyone listens to westlife? who is your favourite?

For those who are not farmiliar with westlife, they are an Irish boy band, who started out having 5 members – Shane, Mark, Bryan, Nicky, and Kian. Now only 4 members, Bryan has left the group a few years ago. Shane is the main singer, followed by Mark. They were the boy band who sang ‘If I let you go’, ‘Swear it again’, ‘Flying without wings’ in their 1st album and it made them famous. Ronan Keating was their manager when they 1st came out as  a band, that was when Bryan Mc Fadden was still around. Now Simon Cowell is their manager. Do you know westlife has been around for 10 years now! Aren’t they great? Not many boy bands can stay strong and be around for a long time. But I guess westlife is an exceptional case. Some people may find their songs boring, but I find it really nice to sing along, very light and soothing. Great for karaoke
