Elvis Presley’s Version
I am sure everyone has heard of the song ‘can’t help falling in love with you’ right? The song was originally sang by Elvis Presley, which was adapted for inclusion in the 1961 film blue hawaii, starring Elvis Presley, the song was made famous by him when it topped the British chart in 1962. Besides blue hawaii, the song has also appeared on several other movies like Coyote Ugly, and Lilo & Stitch.
UB40′s Version
This song was so famous that until today, over 50 versions of the song has been recorded eversince Elvis days. Can you think of any artist who re-sang this song?? Ok, let me tell you a few of my favourite versions, UB40, A Teens, F4, Neil diamond, Michael Buble, Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam, Richard Marx, U2 and a whole lot more.. I thought UB40 did pretty well, the melody and backing rhythm was modified slightly, but still sounded good. They made the song famous again in 1993, when the song appeared on the soundtrack to the movie SLIVER.
A Teen’s Version
A Teen’s version is lighter and is more upbeat, probably prefered by the younger group.. I think this version is modified quite alot, I personally don’t like it as much as the others.. I think this song is meant to be slower, and should have a touch of romance to it, don’t like it so ‘pop’.. yeah Im old fashion, whatever Check out Tim’s version, the best, really touches my heart *melts*
F4′s Version
Do you know F4? They were the pretty boys from Taiwan, who were so famous at one point, especially when they were in Meteor Garden TV series..They did the soundtrack for Lilo & Stitch Disney Cartoon, its also a more upbeat version, however it is sang in mandarin, I prefer this to A Teens.
At the moment, I have fallen in love with Tim Urban’s version of Can’t Help Falling in Love with you. You gotta check out minute 1.25 and 2.04, very beautifully done. Do you know who I’m talking about? Tim is one of the current season 9 contestant of American Idol, who started off really rough, but is sailing smoothly at the moment. He is like a miracle in American Idol, he did so badly and received so many negative and harsh comments week after week in AI, until the recent 2 weeks when he suddenly ‘saw the light’ and started to WOW the judges and the audience, like myself

Have you heard of the music ‘replay’ by Iyaz? I’m currently listening to it everyday for the past 3 days now.. I was so bored the other day, I was browsing through youtube, and somehow came across 2 versions of the song sang by Huu from Vietnam, and a group of 3 guys from USA (Andrew Garcia was one of them), I was addicted to the song even before listening to the original singer
This guy Huu, from Vietnam, living in France is quite talented, he has recorded many of his own videos and has received over 5 million views, and thousands of positive feedback from the public. He seemed really good with his guitar and the vocals are not bad as well. The only problem is when he talks, lol. He cracks me up at times, because half of the time I can’t understand what he is saying, his vietnamese slang is overpowering, do ignore that but check out his singing, and other videos from him, he seemed like a cool guy!
The group of 3 guys did a better version of the song compared to Huu, I guess they are more professional in every aspect, and they havn’t got a slang, so I understand them much better, and they are hilarious! I love the vocals from the guy on the left (JR Aquino) most and the middle guy (AJ Rafael) as well, though he did not sing much in this video, Andrew Garcia was alright, I actually thought the other 2 guys sang better. I came across this video because I have heard AJ Rafael did his version of ‘Lucky‘ by Jason Mraz with his female friend (in my previous post), and I thought that sounded really good, and cute. In this video, I was shocked to find out he actually knew Andrew Garcia from the American Idol. 3 of them together seemed to make a great band, with really good vocals from all 3. Check the video out, they actually got a shout out from Iyaz official site!!

Did any of you watchedamerican idol episode 23, do you like the song at the end of the episode? It is a song by Will Young called Leave Right Now, It is quite an old song, the album was released in 2003, about 7 years ago now. I can’t believe Im falling in love with this song all over again. It was such a long time since I last heard Will Young’s music. He actually does sound like a woman in the beginning of the song, then slowly you will realise its a man. Lol..
He released a new album in November 2009, called ‘The Hits’. Leave Right Now is included in his album as well. Such a great hit from him. The few songs I liked from Will Young is Let it Go and Leave Right Now. Have a go, and see if you like him, I warn you first his music is quite emo, if you are in that moment, then you may like it, but if you are up for a happier and up beat song, then leave this ;)

A friend recommended one of Miley Cyrus songs to me called ‘the climb’. I found the song really comforting, and her voice is not bad. Another new found talent by me I thought I’d share with you the clip I found on You tube.
The climb was actually the soundtrack of the movie Hannah Montana 2009, Miley Cyrus was the main actress in the movie, and also the singer for the soundtrack. The song is written by Jessi Alexander and Jon Mabe and was released on March 5, 2009 as the lead single of the film’s soundtrack by Walt Disney Records. The lyrics of the song describes life as a difficult but rewarding journey. It is a country pop ballad, and was her first solo released to country radio.
Cyrus released her second album in July 2008, called ‘Breakout‘. She said the album was inspired by the things that was going on in her life in the past year. She co-wrote 8 out of 12 songs on the album. For Cyrus, songwriting is what she really wanted to do in her life. The album topped the U.S. Billboard 200 chart with a first week sales of about 371,000 copies.

The updates for American Idol S9 Ep19 are up, hop on to my TV blog to get more information. In today’s performance, I absolutely fell in love with Lacey Brown’s voice. I have always liked her, but she sang exceptionally well today, her best performance so far, agreed by the judges including Simon. Once again, she made me liked a song I am not very farmiliar with called ‘ The Story ‘ by Brandi Carlile, the original singer.

I’m very impressed with Alex Lambert from S9 American Idol who performed John Legend’s song ‘everybody knows’. He sang so well that it sounded good eventhough it was my 1st time listening to that song. Such ashame I did not know John Legend has such great songs! I did the usual thing after watching AI, went looking up John Legend’s music. I quite like the song, listening to it over and over again at the moment, hope to share the youtube link I found with those who have not heard his music before. He did win an award too in the 52nd Grammy. Let me know what you think. You probably have heard it before, maybe its me who is so outdated
Just a little background about John Legend.
His birth name is actually John Stephens, but better known as John Legend, he is born in Springfield, Ohio,United States on the 28th Dec 1978. His music genres include Soul, Neo soul and R&B.He is a singer, song writer, multi-instrumentalist, and an actor! He plays the piano and the keyboard. One of his earlier albums, Get Lifted, released in Dec 2004, debuted at no. 7 on Billboard 200, sold 3 million copies worldwide.
His second album Once Again, release in Oct 2006, and boast production from Kanye West, Raphael Saddiq. This album contains his favourite song ‘Again’ which was written by him whilst sitting in a subway.
He released his 3rd album Evolver in Oct 2008. He said ‘”Well I think people sometimes come to expect certain things from certain artists. They expect you to kind of stay in the same place you were at when you started out. Whereas I feel I want my career to be defined by the fact that I’m NOTgoing to stay in the same place, and that I’m always going to try new things and experiment, thus came up with the title Evolver. His song Green Light surprised many fans, because the song is a lot more upbeat than most people think John is.

Trying to think who’s music I should put on my blog today? It has got to be someone I like, and the music has to be great, if not I wouldn’t be proud to share it with you :) So who’s that person on my mind? Are you ready to find out?…
Well, that special one is Michael Lee johns, an Australian, who joined the American idol 2 years ago, in season 7, together with david cook and david archuleta. Does his name ring a bell?? U got to remember him! One big fuss was made when Michael was eliminated from the competition, even the judges thought he left too early, at least Simon thought so. He finished with 8th place. I strongly agree that he shouldn’t be voted out so early, anyway if he was still in, I think he would have made it to top 3. Btw, I thought his bohemian rhapsody was one of his best, if you have not heard his version during the audition, please do now! It’s better than queen’s version, in my oppinion.
My favourite singer in that season was actually Michael Johns. When he left AI, I started searching all about him. He is a singer and song writer, I found out he had his own band before he joined AI, and there is one song that I like very much. I found his song on youtube, I would like to share it here with you. It is called Q when he was still in the band Film. I think the way he sings, is so cool. Look at the way he hold his mic! Love him, I like the way he is so low profile, down to earth guy, who seemed very laid back as well, no fears whatsoever. Maybe that was the reason why he was eliminated? Not desperate enough to win? Haha.. I have no idea what went wrong then. Ooh btw, he is 6 foot 3!! I know that is very random
For those who are now interested in his music, here is a little information about him. He is born on 20th oct 1978, in perth, Australia, he moved to USA in 1998, on a tennis scholarship and majored in drama in a college in Tifton. He lived in Atlanta, Georgia for 6 years, and he constantly performs locally. Then he went to LA and formed a rock band ‘the rising’ after he left the previous band Film. And that is when he met his long term girlfriend Jill stephens. That was history. He is now married to Texan wife, Stacey Vuduris, and currently living in LA, California.
So what is he doing at the moment? Oh yes, that’s right! A new album! He has recently released a single called heart on my sleeve, and the album – hold back my heart in 2009. I have just listen to the songs in the new album, it is not bad, check out heart on my sleeve, it is a nice song from Mich. He managed to sell 20,000 copies of this, well done mich!!

OMG, you are absolutely right. She actually sings better than Kara Dioguardi for this song. Arghh!! And Simon actually likes her as well!! Hmmm.. need to see how she performs in the coming episode to see if I really like her singing. So far from terrified, she is GreatT.
