Nice weather finally!

British weather has been pretty crappy, raining and cold during summer? Oh.. how I wish I was back home in the sun now! Urgh..
Having said that, today was exceptional. We finally had sun all day, without a single drop of rain! Woohoo. It is indeed something to celebrate! Lol…

Easy month at work

Posted by mei | Posted in Life as a pharmacist, my life updates | Posted on 19-06-2011

I have been pretty lucky this month. As my ex pre-reg tutor has gone for a long holiday to the east, I was given the opportunity to cover her store, just 5minutes walk away from where I live. That means I can have another extra hour in bed! An hour in the morning makes a huge difference!!

Plus, this store doesn’t do a lot of items a day, so it is pretty relax in here, I even had the chance to learn how to use the cordless barcode scanner!

I have also met a new summer placement student from hong kong, which is great, someone from asia, finally! Ha-ha. I can also get home early to have dinner with my sister who is still in England. I am so lucky this month! Wish more months like this!

Some nice pics to share…

Since my family came over for 2 weeks, I manage to take some time off to visit a few places, and here are some of the best shots taken on nice sunny days ~ Enjoy…

Dartmoor

Posted by mei | Posted in Travelling | Posted on 16-06-2011

I finally visited Dartmoor this time with my family.

Dartmoor is a famous national park in Devon, that is a must visit if you love nature ~ animals, tors, rivers etc.

I stayed here for almost 2 years, and I never visited this place, mainly because it is not easy to get to without a car. I took advantage of my dad when he was here, to drive us to Haytor for a day. We managed to see a handfull of ponies, each of them stood closely to their mothers, we also saw cows and sheeps and goats all along Haytor.

The only dissapointed was we did not see all the places as planned, as we started our journey late, I hope to visit clapper bridge and the river dart next time around!

Visit to Dorset

Posted by mei | Posted in Travelling | Posted on 15-06-2011

FInally back from our 3 days visit to Dorset ~ Bournemouth, Poole, Weymouth, Portland, Wareham.

Weather on 1st 2 days were horrible, wet, windy and cold. So on the 1st day, we did some shopping indoor, looked for netbook computers for my cousin, and also looked at iphone 4 for myself!! 2nd day we went visiting all the places mentioned eventhough it was tipping it down.

3rd day was a good day, but it was the day we were heading back to Torquay! Urgh. How I hate British weather. So unpredictable, especially in summer? It’s insane..

Anyway, despite the weather, we still had a great time, and managed to see a few great attractions ~ The Blue pool, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Corfe Castle, and also went to see the place where Sailing for olympics is gonna take place in Portland.

We also went to The famous Crab House Cafe for the 2nd time!! Muahaha ~ Yums..

Missed out on Bristol trip

Posted by mei | Posted in Travelling | Posted on 12-06-2011

Since my family came over, I had to take some of my annual leave to join them for travelling. But there is only so many days I can take!! So I had to miss out on some trips, and one of them is the trip to bath and bristol.

I did not bother about bath since I lived there for 4 years, but I wanted to visit the suspension bridge in Bristol, and visit cheddar gorge and see the white horse in westbury! Urgh, how frustrating.

All I got was some photos taken by my sister. I guess I will have to organize another trip with my friends instead… What a shame eh. Have you been to those places mentioned?

Looking forward for weekend in Dorset

Posted by mei | Posted in my life updates | Posted on 02-06-2011

So my parents and sister have come to visit me in England. Dad rented a car already, and we are planning to go to Bournemouth, Southampton and Portland for seafood and sunbathing! Hopefully I can find some good quality bath sea salt there too!

Just can’t wait for the weekend to come. I am lucky to have half day off on Saturday, and off Monday as well! Hopefully the weather will remain sunny. Fingers crossed.

Bad news for work permit extension

Posted by mei | Posted in my life updates, Raves and Rants | Posted on 01-06-2011

So I am looking to extend my work permit in the UK via Tier 1 general, I have already made an appointment to get my work permit done in a day in Cardiff for £1300. But guess what? Yesterday a friend found out that Tier 1 is no longer applicable to us – eventhough we are highly skilled professionals.

They have changed the regulations for the application of Tier 1 general without ammending their websites on time! Thank god I managed to cancel the appointment and started application via Tier 2! The downside of this route is I will be stuck with the same company as long as I work in the UK, unless I can get a new sponsor if I decide to change company some day, and that would involve a lot of hassle with the UKBA (home office). Fingers crossed now that my application will be successful.
