My working shifts next week

Posted by mei | Posted in Life as a pharmacist | Posted on 21-07-2010

So as you all know, I will be starting work on Monday, only as a 2nd cover, for 1 week. The following week I will be on my own. Where will I be working?? Thank god, they didn’t ask me to travel too far since I havn’t got a car, but I will be relief-ing in Torbay, and that includes your local boots pharmacy and health and beauty stores as well in Newton Abbot, Torquay, Paignton, and Brixham. My 1st week schedule looks like this :-

Mon & tues – torquay, wed – off, thurs – newton abbot, fri – paignton, sat – paignton, sun – off

Oh I’v got a good news for me! I spoke to my PDA, and now I opted out Sundays!! Yay.. Surgeries are shut on sundays, and most of the time there will be plenty of queries especially for a store that is in the middle of the high street.. its definately not a good way to start off.. especially if you get a funny prescription on Control drugs!! @.@ So I am soo very pleased with my PDA!! Having said that, I will be down to work for more than 40 hours a week for 2 weeks before I head home to Malaysia!! Eeek, can’t wait.

Gifts for my collegues

Do you like body shop body butter?? I totally love their stuff. But I never buy them for myself because they are too expensive, other than their Vitamin E day cream, love it, the cream is so good. You must try, but it is not cheap either, I think it is about £8.

So, yesterday, when I was shopping for gifts for my colleagues, I came across body shop, and saw a big sign on their window ‘SALES’  … I was further thrilled because the reduction was for body butter!!! They were reduced from £12.50 to £5!! Isn’t it a bargain?? I bought 3, a blueberry, raspberry and passion fruit. The latter is the best!! I thought of getting 3 of the same, but then I thought of well, get a different one for each of them (for the healthcare assistants who have helped me so much this entire year) For my tutor, I bought a gift pack cost £13, reduced from £31!! The gift bag consists of a passion fruit body scrub, body butter and a shower gel, even bigger bargain! My tutor loves smellies, I’m sure she will be pleased.

That’s not it, coming Thursday, we will be going for Indian meal, I will be paying for drinks! So that is my contribution to the team :) After all, I got some bonus I should share it with all.  I just gotta buy thank you cards, and wrap them all up nicely, can’t wait to give them!? I realised when I was younger, I always loved surprises, and gifts, but as I grow older, I love to shop for others, it is a good feeling making others happy. Don’t you agree?

A Diary for a new start

I spoilt myself today. I Bought a filofax diary and some accessories to go with it.  The diary cost £25. Well it is quite expensive, because you can easily get a normal diary for £5 or less. But I thought, since the diary will be an important part of me when I start working, might as well buy a good one that looks decent and last long.

In fact, it might save me some money in the long run, since you can replace old sheets with new ones every year, without having to buy a new diary again. This diary is multipurpose, besides jotting down where I will be working every day, (If you don’t know by now, I will be working in different stores everyday!) I can also plan when to do me blogs!! It is the only way to get meself organized again.

I remember in year 4, I had a diary and was carrying it around, because I was working part time, and juggling lectures at the same time. But when I was in my pre-reg year(intern), I stopped using it, and my life was in a mess, It started off well, was organized, juggling work, blogs, studies, cooking, cleaning etc.. my life slowly just got out of control, because I was so caught up with so many things to do.. can you believe I have not cooked properly in the last 2 months? So that means I have been wasting lots of money! Yes, terrible. So, with this diary, I hope I will be organized and will be working systematically, living a healthy and happy life again. I can do it!

Passed my pre-reg exams!

Passed my pre-reg exam!

So my result is finally out, and I’m thrilled to announce to everyone that I have officially passed my pre-reg exam, and all geared up to be a pharmacist!! Woohoo.. Starting the 27th August, I will be a full fledged pharmacist. That would be a new chapter of life for me. Am I ready to embark on that journey of challenge?? I better hope so ;) No more looking back at my tutor, because she will not be there for me anymore.. Well you always have to start somewhere, and in the beginning it may not be easy, but I believe with time, we will all get used to it… and hopefully we will learn to take that responsibility and love the job we do. Congratulations to all pre-regs’ who passed and good luck on starting your new journey of life!

Thanks to my tutor and colleagues who believed in me, and never doubted my ability to pass the exam!! Loved the cake, balloon, cards, and the support throughout the entire year.

I feel both happy and bitter. Happy because I have made it, I am free, not forgetting about Pay Rise!! That is the best bit Lol.. but at the same time I feel sad because I have enjoyed working with the team, and they are such great people!! When I have settled in, it is time to leave. Well that’s life isn’t it?? I will enjoy my last week as a pre-reg in 5563!! Hope everyone else does the same too!
